Who are Aberdeen?
Aberdeen is a Scottish football club based in Aberdeen, Scotland.
They are one of the few teams that have never been relegated from the Scottish Premiership since they were promoted in 1905, despite having finished twice within the relegation zone.
Aberdeen have won four Scottish league trophies, seven Scottish Cups and six Scottish League Cups. They are the only Scottish club to have won two European titles, European Super Cup and European Cup Winners’ Cup in 1983.
In the 1980s, one of the most famous managers in football Sir Alex Ferguson was in charge of Aberdeen, winning three league trophies, four Scottish Cups, one Scottish League Cup, and the two European trophies.
After Ferguson moved to manage Manchester United in 1986, Aberdeen struggled to compete with Rangers and Celtic.
Aberdeen have played their home games at Pittodrie Stadium since their inception. The ground’s capacity is 20,866.
The club’s colours are red and white since 1939; Aberdeen developed rivalries with Dundee United (collectively known as the “New Firm” in the 1980s) and Rangers.
What are the predictions for Aberdeen next season?
Aberdeen finished last season in fourth place in the Scottish Premiership and have already started to strengthen their squad for the 2021/22 season.
Aberdeen have secured the services of 30-year-old forward Christian Ramirez from MLS outfits Houston Dynamo on a two-year contract.
The Dons head coach Stephen Glass said: “Securing a centre-forward was vital for us and, when we started looking, Christian immediately became a priority.
“We have had to work really hard as a club to get this finalised and we are delighted to be able to add a proven goalscorer who is still at a good age and is a full international.”
Jay Emmanuel-Thomas has also joined the Scottish giants from Livingston ahead of the next season and adding two quality forwards to their ranks could help Aberdeen to fight for the Scottish Premiership title.
