West Brom are prepared to combine the English big guns keen on registering Rangers defender Connor Goldson, Football Insider has heard.

The Championship promotion favourites are setting as a goal for this month, 27, on the centre-back or, more realistically, in the summertime.

A West Brom source has told Soccer Insider that Goldson has come to the attention of the scouting network for the consistency of his performances in rejuvenated Rangers.

Slaven Bilic’s side are in the market for central defenders they regard as capable of playing at the peak of the Championship or at the Premier League when they were to arrive.

This comes after Football Insider revealed before last week that Fulham are plotting a move to signal Goldson this month, while Leeds United are tracking him more inclined for the summer.

Rangers face a struggle to hang on to the controlling 6ft 3in leader of the defence, who has been one of the mainstays of Gerrard’s title-chasing side in Scotland.

The director rates Goldson highly he’s started him in every match despite having three to select from because he took control, all of whom he signed.

Goldson has established excellent value for the £3 million paid to Brighton in 2018.

He’s played 90 games in a season-and-a-half and his consistency was as impressive as it could be. In the effort, Goldson has made 36 appearances, all which have been started.
