Rangers need to act fast in order to win race for Caleb Chukwuemeka
The talk had quietened since then, at least as far as the Gers were concerned, and now the EFL campaign is back underway.
Chukwuemeka has not featured yet for the Cobblers in the 2021/2022 season, though, and even missed out on the matchday roster for their 1-0 win at Colchester United last week.
It is from that context that the Sunday Mirror has issued an update on the 19-year-old, who the club have described as the most wanted youngster in EFL League Two.
The report says that Rangers are showing serious interest in Chukwuemeka but are in a fierce battle to land him with Premier League outfits Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur.
Journalist gives his verdict on potential Ryan Kent-Leeds United deal
Alan Nixon has cast doubt over an eye-catching Leeds United move for Rangers attacker Ryan Kent in the final two weeks of this month.
The Sun journalist suggested that the reported £15 million may be enough to get the summer deal over the line in August.
One Leeds supporter questioned whether or not Marcelo Bielsa’s side would try again after their UEFA Champions League disappointment.
Writing on his personal account of Twitter, Alan cast doubt over a possible move to Elland Road this summer.
“It would still be in £15million range to get him. So I doubt that just now.” Alan wrote.
Rangers knock back proposals from La Liga and Serie A for Romanian ace
Manager Steven Gerrard recently spoke of how his club might have to cash in on players to balance the books in the coming days. But the £6 million proposals fall below the Romanian’s £9.5 million price tag.
The 22-year-old has made an excellent start to the campaign after shining in his first full term during 2020-21.
Initially joining the club on loan from Genk in January 2020, Ianis has since gone on to produce 31 goal involvements in 61 matches. Netting 13, he has also laid on 18 assists.
