Young Colombian forward leans towards Rangers transfer

Rangers are close to the landing of 19-year-old attacker Juan Alegria, and the Colombian striker could be the next Alfredo Morelos in the English manager Steven Gerrard’s side at Ibrox.

According to Jordan Campbell, the Gers correspondent for The Athletic, the club are closing in on the signing of Juan, with the ace set to join from Finnish outfit FC Honka.

Like Morelos, the youngster started his career in his homeland, with Deportivo Tolima, before sealing a move to Finland in the transfer market of 2020, where the player has gone on to score three times in 24 matches.

Rangers backed to get rid of Nikola Katic in August

Noel Whelan has told Rangers to sell Nikola Katic on a permanent basis before the end of the transfer market.

The former Aberdeen attacker, speaking to Football Insider, insisted a loan transfer would be “no good” to either player or club.

“I mean he’s been out for a long time. When people are surplus to requirements, you only loan out people if you’re going to get that progression and you want to integrate them back into the side,” he told Football Insider.

“But he’s an experienced player in himself. It is one of these where a loan move is no good to Rangers. Probably no good to the player either.

“They’ll want to get him out of the door. Get him settled at a new club and it’s somebody off the wage bill.”

Highly-regarded Rangers defender drawing attention from Liverpool

Liverpool are reportedly eyeing up a move woop for Rangers star Nathan Patterson with Everton already keen.

Ibrox manager Steven Gerrard has already warned the Toffees they’ll need to ‘get real’ if they are to sign Patterson when the Englishman blasted their “joke” £5 million proposal for the Rangers right-back.

Now the Scottish Sun report Everton’s city rivals Liverpool are interested in the Scotland youngster. The report says that Jurgen Klopp’s side have been keeping a close eye on him since the start of the year.

It is said that Rangers have rejected an initial seven-figure approach for the 19-year-old talent and it remains to be seen whether Rafael Benitez’s side will now return to the negotiating table to test the Gers’ resolve.
