Heerenveen have revealed they have received an offer for Rangers target Joey Veerman.

The Dutch star has been frustrated at the club for their refusal to reduce an asking price the player views as excessive.

But the team’s technical director has confirmed they are looking at an offer on the table, although he has not said who it is from.

Rangers are keen on signing him but face a fierce battle from the likes of the Serie A side Hellas Verona this summer’s transfer window.

The Italian club have already had a bid snubbed and reports in the Netherlands stated Rangers had launched a summer move for him last week.

Steven Gerrard has plenty of variants in the middle of the pitch with the signing of the 27-year-old English midfielder John Lundstram adding to an already gifted midfield, but doubts remain regarding the future of former Arsenal academy player Glen Kamara.

The Finland star is subject of interest from the Premier League and abroad and is yet to pen an extended contract, with just 24 months left on his deal.

Steven Davis is advancing in years while there are also doubts about the injury record of Ryan Jack, leaving Gers manager with decisions to make.

But Ferry de Haan has warned Joey that he remains under contract at Abe Lenstra Stadion did concede they were evaluating the bid.

De Superfriezen’s senior figure told ESPN: “Joey is a Heerenveen player and still has a three-year contract.

“A club has come forward and we have also indicated to Joey that we are looking at it. There is no further news.”

In other news, the Gers chase of America de Cali forward Santiago Moreno has been dealt a huge blow with the attacker being lined up for a Major League Soccer move.

The 21-year-old star is impressing in his breakthrough season in the Colombian top flight and is allegedly on the transfer radar of the Ibrox side, Leeds United and Southampton.

He netted six goals and registered four assists in 25 matches for Cali last term and his existing deal runs until June 2023.

Steven Gerrard has already added the 24-year-old star Fashion Sakala to his forward line but will be interested in further bolstering his attack for a crack at the UEFA Champions League group stage.

However, reports Stateside claim that Santiago has narrowed his decision down to either Portland Timbers and Atlanta United this summer in spite of interest from Europe.
